My boss is having a breakfast meeting this morning and I received a somewhat panicked phone call yesterday afternoon from one of the other admin asking what I was planning for the breakfast. (Breakfast? What?) I quickly checked his calendar to see that there was a breakfast, then I said, “He usually just takes care of that on his own, have you heard that he needs something?” to which she responded that another shareholder was having a board meeting in the same room but it was going to go late and she wasn’t able to stay to clean it up so would I please come early to set up the room for the breakfast meeting? Sure. Sure I will.
I got to the office this morning to find the room all set up. I’m only slightly miffed that I missed out on having breakfast with Jonathan and sweet morning hi jinx. Slightly. Miffed.
In other news, check out the sweet new blog lay out Jonathan created based on my sort of random requests! Go ahead, reload the page and see the other photos on the top! Isn’t that sweet? He’s a genius.

At work early and Jonathan is a genius
Tuesday, May 12th, 2009Happy October 15th!
Wednesday, October 15th, 2008October 15th is a BIG deadline here in the wonderful world of accounting. All June 30th fiscal year end organizations, people who extended their tax filing and employee benefit plans have to file their tax info. For those of you who know enough about my job to know I don’t work with the tax department, you may be wondering, “what does this have to do with you?!?!” well, to fill out those tax forms, they often need their financial statements. That’s where I come in. I’ve been pushing paper like a crazy person, a new paper cut everyday it seems. And now, the deadline is here and my office is sort of cleanish and will be cleaner by the end of the day! Oh boy! More importantly, I found out this morning that Jonathan got me an October 15th present! Yes, I will soon be the happy recipient of a new rack for the oven! (Right now we only have one oven rack.) Hooray for Jonathan! Thank you for thinking of a most delightful treat! I’ll post photos when it arrives, but right now all I can think about is baking two trays of cookies at one time!
CN Golf Day
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008There is one day a year where all the employees at CN head out to Willows Run to play golf (or mini-golf) for the afternoon. It is a best ball tournament with cash prizes and everything. I took a golf course in college that consisted of a dozen or so of us standing around in the gym hitting golf balls into a large tarp. I had no idea if I was a good golfer or not, but after two years of mini-golf, I decided to go for it on the full golf course. First, I was a little nervous because my team consisted of two other gals and Bob Nuber, as in, the company is half named after you Bob Nuber. Oh geeze. It turned out to be great fun!
Here is our scorecard. I got to be the score keeper:

Here is our team:

Left to right: Lillie, Krystyna, Bob and Kelly.
We ended the game 8 over par. Sort of bad in a best ball tournament, but around the 7th hole I started to figure out how to golf! It was really fun! I might even golf on a day when the company isn’t paying next summer. It IS a nice walk, if nothing else, and it’s fun to be outside and spending time getting to know some coworkers a little better.

Computer Genius!
Thursday, February 28th, 2008Well, I’m not actually a computer genius, but I sure feel like one right now! I’ve had an issue with a tool at work in the last two weeks that basically takes a form and rolls it over into the next year in the database I use. It’s a great tool because that means I don’t have to recreate data….LOVE the tool. I broke the tool because I made too many changes in the database. Even that is an incorrect statement because it was the ini file that was having trouble, not the tool itself. Of course, what does any girl do when she’s having an error message? Research the ini file! Naturally, I made the proper changes and then….nothing. Nada. Still had an error.” WHY oh WHY are you looking for the wrong fields!?!?” I cried! This was less effective. I talked with John, who very kindly helps me out when I’ve gone too far into the land of computing and can’t rescue myself from the database changes I make. He fixes the issue in the same way I’ve done and everything works fine for him. I do THE SAME thing he did….but I still have an error. Yesterday, I had a stroke of brilliance and decided to email myself both files to see if I can do it at home. Turns out the issue is not that I was incorrectly editing the ini file, but the tool is calling an ini file that is saved in a random Windows System folder that I couldn’t find again, even if it was my heart’s desire. Tonight I moved the ini file and ran the rollover tool and it was smooth sailing. Tomorrow I will have the joy of conducting an ini file hunt on my workstation. Ah, it’s like an early Easter egg hunt! Praise the Lord!
I realize I’m opening myself up here for loads of mockery, but bring the heat! I’m unstoppable right now!
