“I would send you a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils”

Written by kelly on August 27th, 2008

Well, it’s almost back to school time. Time for children everywhere to head to Sears or JC Penney or someplace else (maybe kids these days shop at cooler, more hip places) and get the new socks, shirts, pants and jackets for the upcoming school year. Honestly, my favorite part was the pencils. I LOVED sharpening them to a perfect point so I could write itty bitty letters (as a special present for my teachers, I used to think). As with many families, my parents took first day of school photos. Since my sister is leaving next week for what may be her last first day of school, I thought it fitting to add this:

Please note that those are pop beads we’re wearing! Our mom was the best, she let us make our jewelry…sort of. Also, I refused to wear anything other than athletic socks until I was in sixth grade. I didn’t like the way dress socks felt on my feet.

We’re really going to miss you and we’re really proud of you Rachel! Your big sis sure loves ya! And your brother in-law too!

Love,
Kelly

Oh, not to forget Jonathan, here is a photo from Jonathan’s early days for your enjoyment (the man in the background is a stranger, but isn’t Jonathan cute!):

Unlimited bonus points if you can name the movie from whence the title quote came.

I know I know!!! It’s from “You’ve Got Mail” as Meg Ryan is typing to Tom Hanks she said she loves fall and would send him a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils! I LOVE that movie! Can you tell I’ve watched it quite a few times!!! =)
