About Junk Food

I really like junk food. It’s really bad. I don’t like all junk food (no chocolate, no doritos, not a huge fan of moutain dew), but the junk food I like I really really like. For example, for a large chunk of my twenties I had a habit of coming home after church to enjoy reading the newspaper and consume a bowl of queso (yep, the nasty stuff they sell in a jar right under the tortilla chips) and chips with a coca-cola classic. Every week. For a special treat, sometimes I would eat it during the week too!
Going to sporting events is tough for me. They are FILLED with all the delicious things I love. For one season, my friends Kelly and Diana and I had a 16 game package for the Mariners and every game I would have a hotdog, peanuts, good n’ plenty, mike & ikes, red vines and kettle corn. Admittedly these treats were shared among our whole row of seats, but that is a little bit too much junk food. I came home from a game one night and had a terrible stomach ache. Like a small child, all I could do was lie on the floor and moan. I quickly had a glass of baking soda and water and then felt a little better.
Fast forward to last night-we received tickets from our friends (thanks Jason & Christi) for a Mariner’s game. We gladly went and had dinner of hot dogs at Al’s Gourmet Hot Dogs and grabbed a bag of kettle corn but no other treats because I didn’t want to get sick. Well, about the 6th inning I started to feel bad. WHY?

I’m starting to think that my body no longer likes junk food as much. I feel like a grown up when I think things at lunch like, “I’d be really nice to have some spinach right now.” Do all grown ups feel this way? I guess I’ll soon find out.

This article/blog is all about me. These are my food tastes. Too bad I’m losing my metabolism, so now I have to exercise to have days where I can eat like this!
