This is Jonathan. Thanks for the support, everyone! I’ll try to be a more regular contributor to our corner of the Internet here.
And I’ll start by telling you all about a very exciting event in our future. Can you guess what these two people have in common?

If you guessed that they’re both good-looking, you’d be right. And if you guessed that they were both stars of the contemporary Christian music scene in the 90′s, you’d be even more right.
But if you guessed that Kelly and I are going to see them together in concert in September, you’d be the most right!
We’re pretty excited. Michael W. Smith (or Smitty as his fans call him (or so I’ve heard)) was a cornerstone of my musical world when I was a teenager and I’ve never had the chance to see him live. His music and piano skills (FACT: he used to play keyboards for Amy Grant before he got big) were one of major reasons I decided to play the piano, something that became a big part of my life as I grew up. If there’s some sort of autograph line I’m going to shake his hand and thank him.
I understand that while Young Jonathan was listening to MWS, Young Kelly was listening to SCC. It’s awesome that both artists are known by their initials and that they’re combining forces. The concert’s in just a few months!
Anyone else have a guilty CCM pleasure from their younger years?
I’m seen them both. I’m somewhat of a concert nut, and I don’t really discriminate musical genres. I really, really wished I had bought that DC Talk ticket, now in hindsight. Anyway, I digress, but they are awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome!!! You will both love it!
Actually, young Kelly was sadly not listening to SCC. I did not discover SCC until 2001. Isn’t that sad? I had no idea. Of course, I had only heard Carman and Petra on the christian station out here and decided I would have nothing to do with that christian music stuff….*sigh*
Oh, I didn’t listen to some contempory Christian music until I was a teenager. The only reason (sad to say) I listened to SCC when I was young was: It was parent approved. My parents didn’t let me listen to rock n roll! So whether it was cool or not…I had to stick with Carmen, SCC, MWS, DC Talk was pushing it…
I know I know, I need to post pics but I was waiting for Matt to name all of them before I uploaded on my computer! They will be up very soon!
Cornhole is a game invented here in the great city of Cincinnati back along time ago. It’s also called bean bag toss. You have 2 boards with a circle hole towards the top. Set them up slanted on the ground. You have 4 bean bags for each board and you through them trying to get it in the hole. It’s kinda like horseshoes. It’s a fun game and HUGE around here! It’s catching on b/c I’m seeing it more and more in other places!
Pics of Vegas to come soon!
I remember Petra! But you can’t leave out DC Talk. Ah those were the days.
Saw MWS in the King Dome when when I was thirteen. Don’t remember a ton, but I do know we lost our voices from singing.
The very first concert I ever saw was Amy Grant — I believe it was the Lead Me On tour, by which time MWS had graduated to being the opening act instead of just the pianist. I remember exactly what she was wearing (I think) and I remember being disappointed that I had to go home before her set was done because it was past my bedtime.
I still enjoy a little old-school AG these days…
